Rome at Night

Do you ever get sick of the crowds while traveling? Is the daytime heat too much to handle? Feeling a little jet lagged? I have a recommendation for you!

Go out in the middle of the night. Why not? Take a little stroll around town while everyone else is counting sheep. We did this in Rome and I’ll tell you a secret, I like Rome better after sundown. It’s much easier to enjoy Rome when someone isn’t shoving a selfie stick in your face. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good selfie… but c’mon! Rome at night is pure magic. After the sun goes away, Rome is bathed in warm colored street lights, cobblestones glimmer as you walk, piazzas empty out, that massive crowd in front of St. Peters Basilica is long gone, it’s much cooler out and it seems as though the city is yours. I should add that we never once felt unsafe; police are on patrol in nearly every place of interest, day and night.
